Q. Here with Brooke Henderson and Corey Conners after their first round. Another really good start here at the Grant Thornton Invitational. Will you just tell me a little about the day?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it was a really good day, I feel like a really solid start. I feel like scramble’s a really fun way to start the tournament. Corey hit a lot of really great shots into the greens, gave us a lot of really good looks for birdie, which is always a great thing. We were able to make some putts today, a couple eagles on the back nine, so overall it was good and just try to get a solid game plan going into tomorrow.
Q. Anything to add there?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it was a fun day. Lots of good things to build off of going into the next couple days. Yeah, it was a lot of fun, fun way to start, like Brooke said. Yeah, just watching her hit the ball, looking forward to the next couple days.
Q. We would love to hear what each of you thought your partner did best that helped you succeed today.
BROOKE HENDERSON: Well, Corey’s ball striking is amazing. Out there Geno’s like, your partner is a machine, and he really was. So it was really easy and fun for me just to show up on the green and have a great look for birdie. I was putting first and was able to make quite a few, which was really fun. But yeah, he just put us in great position all day.
COREY CONNERS: I think Brooke hit a lot of good shots, made some big putts. We had some putts that were tricky and she made them look easy. She was rolling it really great today and it was fun to see a bunch of those go in and to be able to just pick up the mark and move onto the next. She rolled the ball great.
Q. I know finishing runnerup last year here, you guys obviously love playing together. What’s the goal for getting to the finish line and taking home the trophy this year?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I think we make a really great team. It’s a lot of fun for me to be paired with Corey and I was really happy that we were able to do this again this year. I feel like the runnerup finish was so fun last year, but also stung a little bit. So hopefully just take that as a little extra motivation into these next two days and try to put some solid scores up on the board and just see what happens.
Q. For Corey, going back to what Brooke does well, what was going through your mind when she made the two eagle putts?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, was really hoping she’d pour them in, I guess. I knew she hit so many great putts all day and we did have two really nice looks for eagle there. She hit an awesome wood into 14, cashed it in. I gave us a good look on 17 and I was certainly hoping to not have to hit the putts and she rolled a couple right in the middle. It was a nice relief.
