NAPLES, Fla. (December 4, 2025) – Tournament officials today announced their expanded partnership with Dow to enhance sustainability initiatives at the Grant Thornton Invitational, set to return Dec. 12-14, 2025, at the Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
This year’s Grant Thornton Invitational sustainability plan, supported by WM, North America’s leading provider of comprehensive environmental solutions, features investments in water and energy offsets and the integration of solar and battery-powered equipment, alongside advanced impact data collection, a recycling program with robust waste-sorting practices and composting initiatives. For example, composting stations will be deployed at back-of-house kitchens in an effort to maximize material recovery and divert more materials from landfills while supporting regional soil health and long-term environmental resilience.
Additionally, WM is prioritizing reuse and donation efforts, helping to repurpose materials such as mesh, wood and other building components for local Southwest Florida charities. In collaboration with InProduction and Dow, WM will collect mesh materials from the tournament — including fencing, scrim and branded assets — for recycling so that they can potentially be repurposed into new products. With an anticipated 4,000 pounds of mesh being diverted from landfills, this initiative represents a major advancement in the event’s sustainability strategy and underscores Dow’s commitment to circularity and continued innovation in recycled plastics.
The Grant Thornton Invitational also benefits from having an on-site hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón, which significantly reduces carbon emissions associated with travel as most players, sponsors, media and staff walk to the golf course each day. Additionally, the tournament is seeking to reduce plastic waste by offering spectators complimentary water refill stations throughout the golf course.
“Without the support of Dow and expertise of WM, this enhanced sustainability program would not be possible,” said Rob Hartman, Grant Thornton Invitational Tournament Director. “The implementation of this year’s sustainability efforts is a true team effort between Tiburón Golf Club, The Ritz-Carlton, vendors, volunteers and tournament partners.”
“We’re proud to support the Grant Thornton Invitational’s sustainability journey with our partners at WM. Sport gives us a unique stage to move circularity and carbon-reduction forward, not just talk about it. By combining our expertise with WM and GTI teams, we’re helping shrink the tournament’s footprint, maximize its positive impact, and setting a higher standard for sustainability in sport” said Carlos Padilla, Dow Vice President, Global Sports Marketing.
“We are proud to work alongside Dow and the tournament on an enhanced sustainability program that allows WM’s team of experts to help advance recycling, donation and composting initiatives in addition to pursuing renewable energy and water conservation efforts,” said Lee Spivak, director of advisory services, WM.
