Cameron Young & Lauren Coughlin

December 13, 2024

Q.  I guess the first one is just how did this come about, the two of you playing together? When did you meet?

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  We met Monday.

CAMERON YOUNG:  Yeah, yeah, just kind of got set up by the agents. I know she had a really nice year, so I said sure, let’s do it for the week. Yeah, turned out nice today.

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  Kind of same. Rob Hartman, who runs it, said Cameron Young wants to play with you, and I was like awesome, sounds good.

Q.  So did you actually play a practice round together of any sort?

CAMERON YOUNG:  No.

Q.  Just saw it blind today?

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  Pretty much, yeah. It was a scramble, so we figured one of us would hit one good shot.

CAMERON YOUNG:  We hung out a little bit at dinner last night. We did a little strategizing, had a walk over here for tomorrow. Yeah, it’s been a fun week. We met just early in the week and it’s been good.

Q.  So what did you learn about each other’s games today?

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  He hits it really far and really straight.

CAMERON YOUNG:  I made her putt all the three and fivefooters today first, which is a really nice break for me. Really nice kind of just leaning on my putter over there and watching her make those.

Q.  What’s your No. 1 rule that you have for team golf when you have a partner?

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  Don’t apologize.

CAMERON YOUNG:  Yeah.

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  Especially in all shot. It’s very cliche, because you can try a little too hard because you’re trying to do really well for your partner. You don’t need to feel bad if you hit a bad shot.

CAMERON YOUNG:  Yeah, I think that’s the nail on the head. We’re all really good at golf and we all hit awful golf shots, it’s going to happen. Well, I hope it doesn’t, but more than likely something happens and you’ve just got to keep moving.

Q.  Do you guys have a team name?

CAMERON YOUNG:  No.

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  No, that’s not my forte.

Q.  If you guys had a walkout song, what would it be?

CAMERON YOUNG:  Man, you can  I’m not real picky.

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  At Solheim I had For Whom the Bell Tolls, Metallica, was my walkout song.

CAMERON YOUNG:  That’s fair enough.

Q.  Have you ever played here before, Cameron?

CAMERON YOUNG:  Yeah, I played this event when it was QBE with Steve Stricker a couple years ago. I was actually just over here for a Mutual of Omaha event about a month and a half ago.

Q.  Because I was wondering, you just played here a couple weeks ago, do you give any advice on the course, how it’s changed?

CAMERON YOUNG:  Yeah, I’ve been around just enough, I’ve seen it a few times. I feel like it’s right in front of you.

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  Yeah, it’s right in front of you. Tough greens today, but other than that it’s pretty much the same.

Q.  Standing here, you both seem to have like a very similar personality, like very chill vibes. Do you agree with that?

CAMERON YOUNG:  Yeah, I think so.

LAUREN COUGHLIN:  Yeah, I think so.
