Q. Joining me today after the second round of the Grant Thornton Invitational is Brooke Henderson and Corey Conners. Really good round out there today, 5 under. Can you just talk about what went well?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, was excited about the format today. We’ve had some success in the past. Got a pretty trusty partner to hit half the shots. A few stumbles out there, I made a couple mistakes, you know, certainly I want over, but did a lot of good things. Was able to hit some nice approach shots. And Brooke was putting awesome, making the birdie looks. So went on a bit of a run but stayed nice and patient through the middle and we were rewarded with some birdies.
Q. You touched on it a little bit, but you guys have played together a few times now. Do you think that brings an extra level the comfortability that some other teams out here might not have?
BROOKE HENDERSON: I definitely think so. We just have a really nice energy between us, I think, and amongst our caddies as well. Makes a great team.
Corey was hitting it really close for me today so I was able to roll in some putts, which was really nice. I feel like once we made a couple birdies, then we really had a lot of momentum. Like Corey said, there’s a couple shots that I wish I had back too, helped my partner a little bit more, but I feel like 5 under alternate shot is pretty good. It’s nice to climb up the leaderboard and be back in the tournament.
Q. Could you give some insight into your strategy today and kind of what made some of those decisions out there for you?
COREY CONNERS: I feel like just kind of sticking to our normal game plans. You know, I got a lot of faith in her ability and know that she’s going to hit a lot of really good shots. I feel like just trying to treat it as normal a round of golf as possible, try and keep it in play and try and get as many looks as possible, just keeping it simple.
Q. And then one more round, another different format tomorrow. Have you given any thought into that or what are you looking forward to with final round tomorrow?
BROOKE HENDERSON: I’m really excited for tomorrow. In the past Sunday’s always been a really good day for us. Hopefully we can have a fast start tomorrow, make some birdies and start climbing the leaderboard. But I’m really excited for it and looking forward to continuing that good energy.
Q. What’s the key to having success in alternate shot? You always seem to play this well together and I think there’s got to be a strategy there that really works for the two of you.
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I think just finding momentum when you can and feeding off that and trying to capitalize on that. We had a good middle of the round today where we were able to make some birdies. You know, hit a few nice iron shots. She kept knocking in the putts. Just kind of keeping the momentum going there was I think the key today and kind of got us heading in the right direction.
Yeah, it’s definitely tricky, but it’s still a lot of fun. Like I said, got a trusty partner that I can always count on. It was a great day.
Q. You guys have played well together in this event since its inception. How hungry are you guys to hoist the trophy tomorrow?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I think very. We’ve been close a couple times now, which is really fun. It’s always fun to be in the mix on Sunday and it would be really fun to share a victory with Corey for sure. Just a great person and great player. We’ve had a couple close calls, so hopefully we can go out tomorrow, make a bunch of birdies and see what happens.
