Corey Conners & Brooke Henderson

December 15, 2024

Q.  A little bit quieter start to the round, but what were your thoughts on making a Sunday charge today?

COREY CONNERS:  Yeah, it was a slower start than we wanted, definitely, but yeah, it was really fun. Exciting on the back nine. Highlight on 10, Brooke knocked it in from the front of the green, great way to start that nine. That gave us some good mojo and we were able to convert to a number of other birdies.

Q.  Y’all just keep coming up a little bit short here, but like what is it about Sunday in this format that really brings out the best in you guys when you’re in that contention position?

BROOKE HENDERSON:  Yeah, I love this format, it’s a lot of fun, Corey played so awesome all week, especially today he played so good. So it was just fun for me to watch and help out where I could. That putt I rolled in on 10 was thanks to his drive, it was just off the front of the green. It was really fun. I like kind of switching the tee shots, makes it really unique and kind of interesting.

Q.  And for you both, I know obviously friends already off the golf course with the Canadian connection, but how much has this event deepened your relationship over the past couple years?

COREY CONNERS:  Yeah, it’s so cool getting to spend time with Brooke and Brooke’s family. My family’s been around, they loved meeting Brooke and being around her. It’s really exciting and feel really fortunate to have gotten to do this the last couple years and hopefully can do it again in the future.

Q.  A permanent partnership after these two performances?

COREY CONNERS:  I’ll take he if she wants me, for sure.

BROOKE HENDERSON:  As long as Corey will still take me, I think so.

Q.  Have you guys thought ahead to the Olympics and what it would be like to have this mixed element in LA?

COREY CONNERS:  I think experiencing this event the last couple years, I think it would bring something really exciting to the Olympics. Obviously may be biased because we’ve got such a talented female player from Canada in Brooke. It would be a thrill to play alongside her on that stage as well. I think some sort of mixed event would definitely be really exciting and I’d love to be a part of it.

Q.  Is there something, Brooke, that you’ve taken from playing alongside Corey these last few years in your own game that you kind of maybe mess around with on the range or maybe talk to your dad about, maybe short game or a shot?

BROOKE HENDERSON:  Yeah, just watching Corey play is a lot of fun. His ballstriking is so good. On Friday Jeeno said he’s like a machine and he really is, it’s so good. Even just green reading this week, he was helping me read my putts and just that extra little bit of confidence, he was reading them really well and I feel like I was able to make some more putts than I sometimes do on tour. Just that was really nice.

Just overall just having a partner that’s so calm and positive and has a really nice energy about them I feel really helped my game and hopefully I can take that into the future as well.

COREY CONNERS:  That’s awfully nice, thank you.
