Q. Here with Leona Maguire and Lucas Glover. What was the strategy going into today? How did you guys decide on who was teeing off and what were some of the goals?
LEONA MAGUIRE: I think it was pretty even. We kind of decided that I’d go off evens and Luke would go off odds given a few more approaches. Yeah, I think it worked pretty well. Got on a nice run on the back nine, which was nice, so some good momentum for tomorrow.
Q. Lots of birdies on the back nine. How did you guys turn it around making the turn? What were some of the goals after the turn?
LUCAS GLOVER: I think it was pretty simple. We hit it closer and made a few more putts. Not to be that guy, but I didn’t hit it very close on the front and I didn’t give her many opportunities, and then we both did on the back and just played better. She hit a great shot, a lot of great shots. I hit a couple. I had a putt on 16 I’d like to have back, but don’t get them back.
Yeah, we just played better on the back. And I think I can speak for both of us, we both hit it a little better.
Q. Going into tomorrow, a new format, modified four-ball, what are your thoughts on that format and any strategies?
LEONA MAGUIRE: I’ve never done it before. I don’t know if Lucas has.
LUCAS GLOVER: Uh-uh.
LEONA MAGUIRE: I guess we both tee off and then we switch, so he can hit a few bombs out there and see where it leaves me.
LUCAS GLOVER: Yeah, last couple days we both played out of the fairway a lot, so tomorrow I think just try to do that for each other. We’re both hitting our irons nice and she’s putting great. I’ve got to go work on my speed a little bit. Yeah, we’ll be ready for tomorrow.
Q. What kind of notes did you take today just playing each other’s balls on a handful of those holes out there and were there anything that you really paid attention to in terms of the differences in the golf ball?
LEONA MAGUIRE: We were switching back and forth a little bit. We just always played the ball that whoever was hitting the shot into the green. He plays Srixon, I play Titleist. It was actually quite nice, his Srixon was going a little bit further. It honestly wasn’t that different. I chipped it a few times, it doesn’t quite check as much, but in all honesty it wasn’t that big of a difference for me.
LUCAS GLOVER: She chipped everything in, so it doesn’t really matter. Her ball does spin a little bit more, but I had all tee shots with it. That was a little bit of the strategy as well just to be approach shots what we’re used to. That’s just how it worked out. You know, played well. I think get some rest tonight and guns a-blazing tomorrow. It’s going to take a low one, but we can do it.
Q. I know you play with some Tour players at Lake Nona. I’m just curious how many female LPGA players — obviously they’re all females, how many LPGA players you’ve played with.
LUCAS GLOVER: Quite a few, but never in a competition. This is new I think for everybody. Yeah, I played some at home. There’s a lot similar to Nona or Dallas, or anywhere, I live in Jupiter, so a lot of golfers there. Then some pro-am situations and some different things where I’ve played with some LPGA ladies. Just Memorial, I had Juli Inkster in my pro-am, which was a trip. Known Juli for years, so got to do that.
Yeah, doesn’t take away from how impressive these ladies are and watching Leona and Nelly and Madelene yesterday, just been a treat.
Q. What has impressed you the most about Lucas’ game, Leona?
LEONA MAGUIRE: He hits it very straight off the tee for hitting it that long, and approach shots are really nice. Yeah, he rolls it well. Overall there’s not really anything you can pick holes in. I think it’s so impressive. These guys on the PGA TOUR, they’re so, so good. It’s been impressive to watch up close these past couple days. Ludvig, Lucas, Tony today, yeah, it’s very impressive to watch.
Q. The big question of the day is are you going to the concert tonight or are any of your friends going to the concert tonight?
LUCAS GLOVER: We’re already there.
Q. Yes?
LUCAS GLOVER: We’re already there.
Q. Are you going?
LUCAS GLOVER: No. I’ve got my family here, and plus we’ll be able to hear it from our balcony, so I don’t think I need to go to the trouble.
