Michael Brennan & Charley Hull

December 13, 2025

Q.  Here now with Charley and Michael after their second round at the Grant Thornton Invitational. Just continuing to stay on fire. What’s been kind of working out there for you guys?

CHARLEY HULL:  We’re playing pretty solid. Obviously I missed that putt on the last, but it’s kind of hard in foursomes to get into a rhythm sometimes. Like to not have a short putt say all round and you’re on the last hole, you like didn’t have some pace putts for ages and then you have a long putt at 17.

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  Yeah, I kind of whiffed a few iron shots on par 3s, which we were thinking I’d be pretty good on. Like Charley said, it’s hard to find a rhythm. But looking forward to playing all the shots tomorrow and I like where we stand.

Q.  What was the game plan coming into today knowing the alternate shot format?

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  I mean, I don’t know. There’s a little kind of up in the air. We played my ball, which is different than hers, so that was really nice of her to give that up.

We were saying if she hated it, we could switch, kind of go with the flow, see what happened.

Q.  How much does equipment factor into a format like this, even a format like tomorrow’s?

CHARLEY HULL:  Yeah, I think obviously sometimes, but I used to play with kind of the ball he played with anyway so it wasn’t too much of a change.

But obviously going into tomorrow it’s a completely different format. It’s more like your normal game. Obviously we’re playing their tee shots and they’re playing ours, but I feel like we are playing pretty well and just looking forward to go out there and be able to play the whole golf course out there tomorrow, I’m sure the same as you, and we can just make birdies.

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  Yeah, I think we’re going to switch balls off the drives, so I’ll play her ball so then she can feel confident

CHARLEY HULL:  Yeah.

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  hitting the irons and stuff. I feel like that’s where it makes the biggest difference anyway.

Q.  Do you all prefer lurking one shot behind and go chase a number tomorrow or would you rather be leading at this moment?

CHARLEY HULL:  I like stalking someone down, I like the chase idea. I’m not too sure what Michael’s like. Obviously it would have been nice going into the lead going into the final round, but we can make plenty of birdies out there tomorrow.

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  I agree.

Q.  What’s the mindset heading into tomorrow and how aggressive are you going to attack Tiburon out there?

CHARLEY HULL:  Well, I always play aggressive golf. I take every shot on, that’s just the way I play golf. So pretty much no different. We’ve got two balls in play at all times so we can take it on pretty aggressively.

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  Yeah, I think we’ll be pretty aggressive. On 17 today, Charley tried to  so she hit it in the right pine straw and I never even looked at anything other than just kind of a pitch back out in the fairway. And Charley  we kind of left each other alone when we were hitting our normal shots because that’s what we normally do, but she came up to me, she’s like, look, you can actually go hit like a high hook out of the pine straw between trees over water, and I kiboshed that. I said no, we’re not doing that. So I wasn’t sure if she was too happy with that.

CHARLEY HULL:  No, it’s good.

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  She definitely is pretty aggressive.

Q.  Have you learned anything from her aggressive style of play?

MICHAEL BRENNAN:  Yeah, she is awesome. I like that she tries to hit shots into greens, it’s kind of fun to see. Super good and confident on the green, which I love as my partner. I felt like she really picked me up today.
