Wyndham Clark & Lexi Thompson

December 12, 2025

Q.  All right, joining me here today after the first round of the Genesis Invitational is Lexi Thompson and Wyndham Clark. Unbelievable round today, you tied the course record for GTI. Can you just talk about what went well?

WYNDHAM CLARK:  Everything.

LEXI THOMPSON:  Yeah, I feel like we hamandegged it pretty well out there. He played some amazing golf and holed out a bunker shot and stuck it close on a few holes. We really just fed off each other.

Q.  After your first competitive round together, do you feel like you can see where your guys’ strengths kind of fit together? Do you feel one of you excels where the other doesn’t, or how do you play off one another?

WYNDHAM CLARK:  I feel like we kind of have similar games to be honest. She hits it really far off the tee, and if one of us is in play, we’re significantly past kind of the competitors and we have our advantage there.  She’s a great putter. Yeah, I mean, really I felt like our games complement each other perfectly and I didn’t think there was any flaws in her game. Yeah, we had a lot of fun out there.

Q.  Obviously tomorrow with alternate shot, a little bit more game planning going into it. Do you know what you’re going to be focused on? Have you gotten that far yet?

LEXI THOMPSON:  We’ve talked about it a little bit. But yeah, a little bit more strategy involved, so we’ll figure it out before the night ends.

Q.  And obviously this is a pretty fun event for the year to end on. Are you guys enjoying yourselves out there and do you look forward to kind of a less intense week?

WYNDHAM CLARK:  Yeah. I mean, for me, I haven’t felt really stressed once today, which is rare for me in a golf tournament. Yeah, it’s really fun. I know tomorrow will be a little bit more stressful as alternate shot, but with that being said, it’s been a lot of fun. It’s a great way to finish the year. To play with Lexi has been a treat thus far.

LEXI THOMPSON:  Yeah, of course. Grant Thornton does great things for this event. To bring the PGA TOUR and LPGA together, it’s kind of what we want to end our year on, a nice, more relaxed tournament. But still at the same time we want to compete and play well.

Q.  And then we’ve had some people talking about how they learn from one another, just learning from the men’s game versus the women’s game. Do you feel like you guys have given each other any pointers or do you feel like you’re pretty established with your similar games?

LEXI THOMPSON:  I just enjoy watching him hit. Every shot seems so solid and just the height and the shot shapes that he’s able to bring it into some of those pin locations, it’s very impressive.

I grew up with two older brothers that played too, so just watching the guys play, it’s remarkable.

WYNDHAM CLARK:  It’s fun watching her putt. She made tons of putts so I was just right behind. She aims the ball incredible. I was telling her brother Nick, I was like, gosh, every time she points at something, she’s aimed right at it.

Yeah, it was really nice just watching from a bird’s eye view watching her putt. And if it didn’t go well, the great thing was she gave me such a good line that I could roll it in, so she made me look a little better.
